Some possible solutions include using energy storage systems to manage fluctuating energy generation and making thermal power plants more adaptable. Other measures, like redesigning the wholesale electricity market, using advanced weather forecasting, implementing smart meters, and managing energy demand more effectively, can also help ensure a smooth transition. However, in India, demand-side management hasn’t had much impact yet because smart meters are still in the early stages of adoption, and time-of-use tariffs are not widely used.
