Subodh Agarwal IAS: Leading Efforts to Reunite Stranded Overseas Migrants


The COVID-19 pandemic caused major challenges, especially for millions of migrants stuck far from home. Among the states in India, Rajasthan was recognized for handling the situation well and with compassion. IAS Subodh Agarwal was chosen by the Rajasthan government to lead the team responsible for bringing Indian citizens back to Rajasthan safely. As the virus spread around the world, countries imposed strict lockdowns and travel bans, leaving many people from Rajasthan stranded in other countries. With IAS Subodh Agarwal leading the efforts, the Rajasthan Government quickly took action to help. Dr. Agarwal, known for his careful and organized approach, saw this task as more than just a responsibility. He felt it was a special opportunity to give back to the people, saying, "I took it as a god-sent opportunity to give back to the people."
